John Wickersham | Investor
John Wickersham is a partner in the NYC office of the investment bank, Atwood Advisors, Inc. He is also an advisor/investor for technology-oriented information enterprises. Mr. Wickersham began his career in business publishing at Intertec Publishing Corporation (now a part of Penton Media). He was involved in the early stages of that company’s expansion. In 1990 he was recruited to Bill Communications in New York City, where, as President/CEO he led the management team’s effort to revitalize, restructure, grow and diversify the over 100-year old company. That effort, backed by private equity, included a number of acquisitions, and resulted in the successful sale of Bill Communications in 1994 to VNU (now Nielsen). After that transaction, Mr. Wickersham remained as a senior VNU executive, leading an acquisition campaign that tripled the size of his operating unit. In 1999 he was promoted to President/CEO of all of VNU’s business media holding in the U.S., comprising Bill Communications, BPI Communications, VNU Expositions and VNU eMedia, collectively totaling nearly $700 million in annual revenues. In June 2001 Mr. Wickersham resigned his position within VNU to pursue private investments. Mr. Wickersham continues to be active with the Software & Information Industry Association and its affiliate, the American Business Media (“ABM”) having served on that organization’s Board and having served in the past as its Chairman. He has alsoserved on the Board of the Business Publications Audit (“BPA”) organization.
Mr. Wickersham is a native of Kansas City and received a Bachelors of Arts Degree from the University of Kansas.
